* Nakaya is using several kinds of nibs as bases and various nibs are
customized from these according to the clinical record. For instance,
if a customer favors a medium-fine nib with soft-touch due to his/her weak
writing force, then we start from the soft-medium base nib and adjust it
finer and make a soft-medium-fine nib.
Moreover, please keep it in mind that Japanese nibs are designed, in general,
finer than American or European nibs by one point. Therefore if you
wish to have a medium width, it is suitable to order a wide width nib at Nakaya.

* The nib of Leather models is only available in "fine", "medium" and "broad".
However the NAKAYA nib craftsman can create an "extra fine" nib from fine,
and can also create an "extra broad" nib from the medium.

* The music nib, stub nib, soft & flexible nib is available on all kinds of Nakaya pens except the leather roll type.

*Stub nib
In writing with Nakaya's stub nib, you might feel sometimes the scratchness
on the paper. The stub nib has a characteristic that can produce a broad
vertical line and a fine horizontal line, and in order to get that writing
result, the shape of the tip made of iridium is not roundish, rather rectangle.
So, the scratchness is inevitable depending on the angle of your holding a pen in writing,
even if it is just slightly different from your usual way.
Therefore, if you prioritize the smoothness over the other characteristics of a nib,
we would like to recommend you choosing a nib out of our standard lines
(from super extra fine to extra broad), instead of a stub nib.
And we try to satisfy your requirement by adjusting the nib carefully and finely.

Since Nakaya fountain pen's nib itself  is of the 22mm in size, the
part where the pen is gripped shall divert at least 25mm from the surface of

(If the gripping part of the pen will be nearer to the surface of writing paper,
the pen will stand more in vertical position while writing and vice versa).
