A fountain pen must be durable. To be durable, nibs must be impervious to the acid of the ink, and also strong against between the nib and the paper that is caused by writing. Nib is like the heart of a fountain pen and is manufactured by a 55 step processes.

The process

1. Prepare pure gold (99.9%), silver, copper, nickel, zinc.

2. Heat 1.to 1200`1500Ž to melt into alloy.

3. Cast the alloy and make ingots.

4. Press and flatten.

5. Press more and flatten.
To give a nib more flexibility the tip of the nib is pressed thicker.

The small difference of the thickness between the tip and the tale of a nib produces flexibility.

9. Attach Iridosmine to the tip electrically.
(alloy contains Iridosmine)

10. Make nib feed.(Centering)

11. Make slit with a cutter.

12. Grind the tip.

13. Polish the tip
Put a nib into a special holder so that only the tip is out of that holder. Grindstones are put in the barrel (drum) and the nib is grinded by rotating the barrel.

The iridosmine is smoothed by this grinding.

14. Check and adjust the slit
Check the slit made in the step 9. one by one.

Slits which are little open or are not symmetric are fixed and adjusted.

15. Attach the nib to nib feeder by steaming
The nib is attached to the nib feed. Different materials, metallic nib and plastic feeder are fitted together by steaming.
