Trial products and pens
which made by a customer's special requirement.
We have only a few models of each because they are
demonstrator samples. The following trial
products are available except for indication 'sold out'. It takes 4-5
weeks. Please feel free to ask Nakaya.
The craftsman
sows Urushi powder onto the body, which makes a lot of grains on the surface
due to surface tensity. After settled, he varnishes the body with lacquer
several times to make the body harden. He sharpens these grains with charcoal
and finished with wipe lacquer. It is truly artistic craftsmanship to decorate
stone-like appearance on a pen true to its name ('Ishi" means a stone in
Japanese.).
So many customers have asked us, "Why
don't you produce a clear pen that shows the inner mechanisms?" So Mr.
Matsubara turned some clear acrylic material on his lathe and we upload a
photo of these prototype pens on the "Trial Product" page of NAKAYA web site.
The demonstrator Lizard pen in particular proved to be so popular that Nakaya
has added this model to its regular product line. Please click
here for more details. For those who desire to have other pen models in
the demonstrator finish, please make your request in the comments box by
typing something like "I would like this pen in the (clear/red) demonstrator
finish". Of course, we will also adjust the nib according to your
specifications.
◆''Negoro-nuri taste'' painting by Wajima
craftsmen
Negoro-nuri is a kind
of Urushi painting techniques which started in Wakayama pref in
Japan.
Under the layer is black urushi and over the layer is
Shu(red) . (This product : Arai-shu).
Dishes and
bowls like dairy necessaries are used and washed so many times that the
surface comes off and falls and under parts (black)
are seen.
We express this feeling of quality.
A fountain pen is not a
tableware ,so we do not paste any clothes to the barrel, but we can
try to paste a cloth and express a feeling of
appearlance
of clothes with black under layers.

◆The Special pen barrel by Kanshitsu
powders.
We made a special shape of pen barrel
by using only Kanshitsu powders. ( Originally, the shape of an ebonite is
circle.)
A cap has angle to prevent rollung instead of
mounting a clip. We are also introducing other pictures on the Special corner
page.
