An artist engraves a motif by Wajima unique "Chinkin" technique
on "Shu"(red) lacquer surface.
After that, an artist imbeds "Sumi"(charcoal) to the lines instead
of gold.
Nakaya calls this technique not "Chin-kin", but "Chin-koku.
"Chin" means "sink", "Koku" means "black",however,
line engraving like "Chin-koku" cannot be allowed to fail and
a very high skill is demanded.
A picture of correcter's box grom page1 to 3 is made by Chinkoku with Aka-tame
technique.
This box can keep 6 pieces (3pc × 2trays ;$2,500) And last one is gold lones with black 'roiro' urushi lacquer.

An
explanation about "Housoge (宝相華)"
"Housoge"
is a flower in the imagination of saying as in blossom in the paradice.
Same as Palmet flower, it is assumed a magnificant flower pattern pronoun as a kind of typical
arabesque pattern of ChineseTang Dynasty and Japanese Tenpyo period.

can see this motif for some old stringed instruments at "Shosoin"(正倉院) in
Nara (Japan) |
