Cigar Long SPERM WHALE & GIANT SQUID　

The design on this pen represents a fight between a sperm whale and a giant squid unfolding in the deep sea.

The whale is finished with Sumiko and the squid with Taka-Makie.

This provides a wonderful contrast, which is further accented by a stream of water in Raden.

Cigar Long OWL & MOON

The black background without blurring clearly highlights the owl motif.

Cigar Piccolo Ishigaki

The broken shells are carefully pasted one by one and coated with black urushi lacquer.
Coating with black lacquer and polishing to leave a level difference, gives a finish that resembles a stone wall.

Cigar Long AOSUJI AGEHA (Common Bluebottle)　

The motif is “Aosuji Ageha” which has a beautiful blue-green wing pattern that inhabit mainly in urban areas in Japan (south of Tohoku).
The beautiful blue-green lines of its characteristic wings are fantastically expressed with Raden.
A butterfly on the cap is drawn by charcoal powder piling up, and the details also are drawn with fine lines of charcoal powders.
The blue-green lines on the wings are expressed by pasting finely cut iridescent shells.
At the bottom of the body, crushed noctilucent shells were sprended to create a gradation.
By using Kuroiro as the base color, the entire design is unified with the black and blue-green image of the Aosuji Ageha, and creating a sophisticated and beautiful finish.

Cigar Long TIGER ＆ BAMBOO

Background of “A Tiger and Bamboo”From the ancient period, “White tiger” has been treated as one of the four gods and defending the west. It is also used as for extracting out “Five poisons” making pressure to dishonest. Tiger fighting against dragon has the meaning that power is not easy to decide on victory or defeat. Technique First of all, the base is polished with the lacquering followed by sharpening of bamboo wood and further polishing it with the lacquering . Over the polished lacquer, the main subject TIGER is drawn with the high gilted lacquer. The parts of tiger’s eyes are expressed finely with the flat lacquering. The body portion is artistically painted to bring the similar golden color shade as of real tiger expressing the sense of strongness.

Wine glass was drew by Tamesukashi technique and Yakoh-Makie.
We put Raden (sea shell) to some parts of the banch of grapes.

GOAT SHRINK LEATHER

The fountain pen wrapped with goat shrink leather.
It is designed with a low center of gravity and metals are used to its cover and screws.
*Custimization is available to change the color of clip, pen nib, and metal parts.

The goat shirink leather is called “chari leather” in Japan, named after Mr. Charles Henninger who was an American tanner who promoted Western-style leather in Japan around the begining of Meiji era.
Crumple goat leather tanned with a plants astringency vertically, horizontally, and diagonally many times, to make deep unevenness on the surface. Because most of the processes needs expertise skill, only skilled craftsmen can manufacture it.
“Chari leather” is very rare and beautiful leather unique to Japan, it was used as a material for bags.

Writer Piccolo model is made with titanium. It is a single thread screw.
It has the inorganic texture and weight that comes from the property of metal.

Miyabigi Series KAGOAMIME

Based on the “Rattan Basket” fountain pen of Platinum Fountain Pens CO.,LTD. (produced around year 1924), it is designed in rectilinear form that was mainstream at the time covering with a bamboo basket knitted hexagonally using thinly shaved bamboo. The size is almost the same as Piccolo size.
The end of the cap and barrel, the grip section, and the basket are painted with black lacquer. The parts under the baske are finished with washed vermilion (Arai-shu) lacquer.

*”Hexagonal knitting” is the most popular bamboo knitting which the mesh looks like hexagon.
