Cigar Portable RASPBERRY

“Iro togi-dashi maki-e”, “Taka-maki-e”, and “raden” are used to draw the motife. The base color is white urushi which seems like ivory.
Mainly silver powders are used to draw all the motif. Also silver powders are used to polish very last for this “Raspberry-silver-“. Using silver powders makes colors more vivid than usuing gold powders.

Cigar Long KARASU

Based on the crow painting from Yosa Buson’s signature work, “Kite and Crow”, it is expressed in Yako Makie.
The old tree and two crows were drawn using “Yako Maki-e” technique, and the snow is drawn by silver powder.
And branches of old tree covered with snow is drawn on the grip section using also “Yako Maki-e” technique.
Using “Yako Maki-e” technique made it possible to successfully express a calm and somber atmosphere of Ink brush painting (sumi-e).
The base color is “Aka-tamenuri”.
“Yako Maki-e” is Nakaya’s original name for the technique that drawing motifs with black lacquer on “tamenuri” base. As the Tamenuri background becomes brighter over time, the black lacquered motifs become more apparent.

Cigar Piccolo SHAKEI-SONSETSU

The motif comes from the Shakei-Sonsetsu, a four-character idioms.
It means to study even if one is in a very difficult situation.
The four-character idioms comes from the story that Che Yin, a old Chinese politician read under the weak light of firefly in summer, and Sun Kang, a old Chinese official read with the moon light reflected by snow in winter.

Cigar Portable CRYSTAL ZARYU

Cigar Portable UNRYU-ZU　

We have created a makie of Unryu-zu, a masterpiece of Soga Shouhaku, an artist of the mid-Edo period.

Silver color was harmonized on a black base while a similar taste to sumie was created by utilizing a technique of heaping up and polishing.
We believe we were able to reproduce a touch of Shouhaku’s humor.

The original painting stored in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) is a masterpiece of Shouhaku, which is painted in eight panel-folding screens. We have used the four panels from the left as a motif.

Cigar Long WATER DRAGON　

A dragon ascending in a waterfall is skillfully represented. The flow of the waterfall is depicted in eraser silver, the flow of water in tame-sukashi, and the dragon in gold.

Cigar Portable EVENING CHERRY BLOSSOMS　

We lay out branches of cherry trees and blossoms on the center of pen body, sprinkled blossoms to the entire body. A craftsman put a bark to express a detail of branch and bloomed flowers.
In addition, black flowers come floating when we look closely and delighted in the expressive image.

Cigar Portable SEASONAL FLOWERS

This is a black Urushi base of previous artwork “Seasonal flowers”.
Many flowers are drawn on this work. Violet(spring), bracken(spring), peony(a beginning of summer), horsetail(summer), bell-flower (from summer to fall), narcissus (from fall to winter), and camellia (winter).

Cigar Portable WISTERIA　

We expressed gorgeous wisteria flowers in maki-e, which perfectly matches the shape of the pen. Different base colors give completely different impressions.

Cigar Portable MAPLE LEAVES　

The motif is colorful autumn leaves (Momiji). Beautiful autumn leaves and trunks are expressed using urushi lacquer and gold powder. White urushi lacquer is used for the veins of the leaves, but they look silver because of the underneath gold powder.
