Cigar Piccolo ENJOYING THE MOON CAT　

The design is based on the theme of cats enjoying the moon. The two cats and the footprints on the grip section are drawn with “Yako Maki-e” technique. The moon is drawn with “Tamesukashi” technique. Base color is “Aka-tamenuri”.
“Yako Maki-e” is Nakaya’s original name for the technique that drawing motifs with black lacquer on “tamenuri” base. As the Tamenuri background becomes brighter over time, the black lacquered motifs become more apparent.

Cigar Portable AKITSUSHIMA　

The design is expressed a lot of dragonflies flying around using “Yako Maki-e” technique on the “Byakudannuri” base. The design name “Akitsushima” is another name for Japan, and “Akitsu” is the old name for dragonfly.
It is designed based on an image of countless dragonflies flying in a forest at dusk. The flying dragonflies are carefully depicted one by one. Also some dragonflies are drawn on the grip section.
For the base color, amber “Byakudannuri” is used to express the image of dusk.

“Byakudannuri” is the technique that painting the base in black, applying a transparent lacquer such as “shuai urushi”, and sprinkling silver powder on it, then again painting the entire surface with transparent lacquer and polish to finish. It is brighter than “Tamenuri” and has a beautiful reflection slightly fluctuating by light.
“Yako Maki-e” is Nakaya’s original name for the technique that drawing motifs with black lacquer on “tamenuri” base. As the Tamenuri background becomes brighter over time, the black lacquered motifs become more apparent.

Cigar Portable FOREST OF OWL

A wide variety of owl motifs are drawn on the “Byakudannuri” base using “Yako Maki-e” technique so that they are scattered throughout.
It is designed as the image of various owls spending their time in the forest.
The motif of owl wings is drawn with “Yako Maki-e” to the grip section.

“Byakudannuri” is the technique that painting the base in black, applying a transparent lacquer urushi, and sprinkling silver powder on it, then again painting the entire surface with transparent lacquer and polish to finish. It is brighter than “Tamenuri” and has a beautiful reflection slightly fluctuating by light.
≪Please note that, due to the use of colored lacquer made from natural materials, slight variations in the final color may occur.≫

Writer Long Izumi no Kami Kanesada　

The design is modeled after the sword mountings (“koshirae”) of Toshizo Hijikata’s beloved sword, “Izumi no Kami Kanesada”.
The body was painted using a technique called “Honshu Kanshitsu Kuronurikomi Togidashi”, apply black lacquer to vermilion “ishime” and polish. A phoenix motif is drawn on the barrel with charcoal powder, and a peony motif is drawn on the cap with black lacquer.
The both tips of the pen are made to look like a scabbard tip of sword, “kojiri”, and are finished with charcoal powder to make them matte and fringe it with gold.
For the grip section, a paper mulberry leaf is drawn with silver on a charcoal powder finish base, and draw the veins of the leaf with black lacquer on it, then applied transparent blackish amber lacquer and polished it.
Using various techniques, we have created a piece that resembles the real sword mountings of the sword.

Cigar Long HORRIBLE SKELETON

Some apparition try to escape from between grip section and barrel or barrel itself so they make a crack on the barrel. The skeleton excludes us from the cracking space in the reproachful. One long arm of apparition expand from another crack. Inside of crack , there are fire flame , ghost, and lantern ghost…. But also this pen has also described “Dokkosho”. “Dokkosho” is magic bar which made evil things flee. So you can avoid every bad thing! Some of these apparition is described by a very famous Ukiyoe artist in Japan named Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849). Maki-e technique ; Background is mainly used Koboku-shiage (ancient Indian ink powders finishing) ,Skelton and arm is Taka-makie (silver powder heaping up mathod). Apparition inside of crack. Mainly used tin round polished powders in Shu(red) color.

Cigar Long WORLD of CHAOS　

The motifs are mysterious creatures that have been resurrected from the Paleozoic Era, which does not exist in this world, or have wandered in from another dimension and been mutated and synthesized.
The base color is matte black of charcoal powder. On top of that, we used silver Taka-Maki-e and heaping up expression of black Urushi lacquer in some parts. A slight smoked shade in silver Taka-Maki-e enhances the three-dimensional effect. I think that the dry and grotesque atmosphere was brought out by using monochrome coloring throughout.

Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI Heki-tame

Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section.

Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI-BLACK　

This is inspired by “Negoro-nuri”. It is a “Honkataji” finish that applies lacquer in layers after the process of “Nunokise” which is putting a cloth underneath. Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section.
It is painted the base with vermilion lacquer and on the top with black lacquer so that the red fabric could be seen from the cracks. It is not fully polished finish, but has a slightly less glossy finish to give it a used feel.

Cigar Piccolo HONKATAJI Araishu

This is inspired by “Negoro-nuri”. It is a “Honkataji” finish that applies lacquer in layers after the process of “Nunokise” which is putting a cloth underneath. Since the it is covered with cloth, the diameter will be about 1mm bigger than the original one.
To express “antique” or “old” looks, creat some cracks in the lacquer to reveal the cloth underneath, we create a texture that looks like it has been used for many years.
Because it is handmade, the shape and size of the cracks design will not be the same. Basically, there is one crack across the cap and body, two long and short cracks on the body, and one or two cracks on the grip section. Base color is “Arai shu”.

“Negoro-nuri” is one of Japanese lacquer painting technique that applies vermilion lacquer on to the black lacquer applied to the base. The black lacquer underneath sometimes comes up from the vermilion lacquer coatings and looks like patterns.
“Honkataji” is a sturdy piece of work that is coated with a base layer of cloth or lacquer and then applied lacquer.
