The motif is one scene inspired by the many heroic stories of Minamoto no Tametomo, known as a master archer. Arrows are drawn on the cover using silver Taka Maki-e.
The dynamic activities of Minamoto no Tametomo are expressed lively with a variety of colored urushi lacquer on a white urushi lacquer base.
Minamoto no Tametomo is a military commander and historical figure who is the uncle of Minamoto no Yoritomo.
